In John 14:27, Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
At this moment, Jesus was speaking to His disciples before He would leave them. He knew they would feel scared and confused, and He wanted to comfort them. His words are just as comforting to us today.
Jesus promises us peace—real peace, not the kind the world gives. The peace the world gives depends on things going well, like when we feel safe or things are going the way we want. But the peace Jesus gives is different. It’s a peace that lasts, even when things are difficult or uncertain.
This peace comes from knowing that Jesus is with us, that He loves us, and that He has control over everything. We don’t need to understand everything or have everything figured out. We can trust Him and have peace, no matter what is happening around us.
When Jesus says, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid,” He is reminding us that we don’t have to be filled with fear. We can give our worries to God and trust that He will take care of us.
Are you feeling worried or afraid today?
Remember, Jesus offers peace that is not based on how things are going around you but on His presence with you. Take a moment to pray and ask Jesus to fill your heart with His peace.
