Living in Power, Love and a Sound Mind

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

Fear is a powerful emotion. It can paralyze us, make us doubt, and hold us back from fulfilling the purpose God has for our lives. In difficult seasons, fear often whispers lies—telling us we are weak, alone, and incapable. But in today’s verse, Paul reminds Timothy (and us) of a life-changing truth: Fear is not from God.

I know this truth firsthand. When God called me to serve Him, I feared I wouldn’t be the best at what He had entrusted to me. Even when God confirmed a prophecy over my life, I doubted—wondering if I was truly capable or if I had misunderstood His plan. The weight of expectations and my own insecurities made me question whether I could live up to what God was asking.

Yet, in His kindness, God did not leave me in that place of fear and doubt. Every day, He gives me answers to my questions—sometimes through His Word, sometimes through people, and other times through quiet moments in prayer. His constant reassurance reminds me that it is not by my strength but by His power that I can walk in His calling.

Instead of fear, God has given us three incredible gifts:

Power— This is the strength to face challenges and carry out His calling. When I felt inadequate, God reminded me that His power works best in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Love – His love breaks through every insecurity. As I learn to receive His love, it becomes easier to pour that same love into others, trusting that He will sustain me.

Sound Mind – Fear brings confusion, but God brings clarity. Whenever my thoughts become anxious, He gently anchors me in His truth and gives me peace.

What fears or doubts are you holding onto?

Take them to God in prayer. Trust that He who called you is faithful and will equip you with all you need. If He has spoken a promise over your life, He will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6).

When fear creeps in, speak this verse aloud and reflect on how God has been faithful in your journey. Trust Him to guide you step by step—He will never leave you without answers.
